Traffic Signal Box Public Art Projects

Traffic signal boxes that have been transformed by artists into works of public art are documented in this section of the Public Art Inventory.

The Town's Public Art Advisory Committee is pleased to have been the recipient of a "2018 Beautification Award" from the Town Board & Huntington Beautification Council in recognition of the Town's first 25 Signal Box Public Art Projects illustrated below.

Description:  Each panel displays "totems" made of different arrangements of contrasting pebbles on a pebbled beach. The center panel shows three different pebble arrows pointing up and down in alternation.  The side panels show circular groupings of pebbles, with the left panel grouping made of black pebbles and the right panel grouping made of white pebbles.

Description:  Scenes from Huntington Harbor are depicted in a mosaic style that makes each panel appear as if it were stained glass window.  Portrayed against a consistent background of sky, forest, and water are images of a large sailboat (center panel), the Huntington Harbor Lighthouse (left panel), and a leaping fish with a small motorboat in the background (right panel).
