Planning & Environment
The Department of Planning and Environment conducts reviews and environmental assessments of development proposals and maintains records pertaining to land use decisions made by the Huntington Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals, for which it supplies staff support.
The Department of Planning and Environment also maintains records of decisions of the Town Board and Town departments of Highway, Engineering and Parks and Recreation that affect land use, the regulation of land use and open space acquisition.
Harborfields Community Playground
The Town of Huntington has prepared a plan to redesign and rebuild the Community Playground on property known locally as Pickle Park, owned by the Harborfields School District and located directly behind the Harborfields Public Library.
The joint Town-School District project will create a playground accessible to children of all physical abilities. The estimated cost is $400,000, which the Town and School District will share equally. To view the playground design and learn more about the plans, please click on the link below.
