5/15/2013 - Berland Commends Huntington’s Young Writers
Councilwoman Susan A. Berland joined proud parents and teachers Tuesday evening in congratulating the winners of Project Excel’s Youth Writes Competition. Councilwoman Berland presented each of the thirty-six winners with an official Certificate of Appreciation from the Town of Huntington for their entries in the short story, essay and poetry categories.
“I am an avid and long-time supporter of the Project Excel’s Youth Writes Competition,” commented Councilwoman Berland. “Writing is such a powerful form of expression and communication and it is important to continually reinforce its virtue. I am pleased that Huntington has so many talented writers and I encourage all students to continue to write and to submit their entries for next year’s competition. I would like to thank Valerie Drakos, Director of Project Excel, and her staff for continually making the Youth Writes Competition such a rewarding and memorable event.”
