11/23/2015 - Petrone Supports Douglas Elliman Coat Drive

Huntington Supervisor Frank P. Petrone helped launch real estate firm Douglas Elliman’s annual holiday coat drive November 17, joining with firm employees in placing coats in boxes that will be sent to the Helping Hand Rescue Mission in Huntington Station for distribution to the needy.

The coat drive, which runs through mid-December, is organized out of Elliman’s Huntington office at 164 E. Main Street and includes all of the firm’s Long Island branches. Last year, the firm collected 550 coats and is hoping to collect 1,000 coats this year.

The Helping Hand Rescue Mission recently marked its 50th anniversary. At the November Town Board, Supervisor Petrone presented a proclamation to the Rev. Rose Marie Gaines, who founded the mission with her husband, the late Rev. J.A. Gaines, and who still runs it with her daughter, the Rev. Kimberly Gambino. The proclamation, signed by all the Town Board members, noted that Helping Hand has assisted countless families in need over the past half century. The Rev. Gaines joined the Supervisor at the coat drive launch.
