Elwood – Huntington Supervisor Frank P. Petrone and Council Members Eugene Cook and Tracey A. Edwards joined in the celebration April 2 of the 90th birthday of The Little Shelter Animal Rescue and Adoption Center, one of Long Island’s oldest no-kill shelters.
Supervisor Petrone presented the shelter with a proclamation signed by Council Members Cook and Edwards, as well as their colleagues Mark Cuthbertson and Susan A. Berland, which noted the shelter’s commitment to saving all companion animals whose lives are in jeopardy and placing them into loving homes. The proclamation specifically cited the shelter’s support for the Town of Huntington Animal Shelter by taking in special needs dogs and providing them support and comfort before adopting them into forever homes, as well as partnering with the Town’s Give A Dog A Dream charity that helps displaced animals receive the medical care and training they need to be adopted.
