Huntington - For the 9th
year in a row, The Kiwanis Club of Huntington will be sponsoring a “Field of
Honor” of American flags on display at Huntington Town Hall.
“The Field of Honor is an
opportunity for Huntington to recognize and honor the patriotism of our
military veterans,” said Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci. “Participation has been
great in the past, representing Huntington’s overwhelming support for our armed
forces and veterans, and its proceeds go to a wonderful cause.”
3’x5’ American flags will be mounted
on 8’ poles surrounding Veterans Plaza on the front lawn of Huntington Town
Hall. Each flag will have its own custom-printed gold ribbon personalized and
dedicated to each veteran honoree.
Flags can be purchased at BuyAFlag.org for $35. Flags will be
assembled during the month of September 2018 and taken down in December 2018.
Net proceeds benefit veterans and children in Huntington.
The Kiwanis of Huntington Children's
Foundation sends children to Kamp Kiwanis in upstate Rome, New York, delivers
Thanksgiving baskets to those in need, and takes children on a shopping
adventure at Target in December.
