Huntington - The Town of Huntington and The Huntington Cultural Affairs Institute will host the First Annual Winter Wonderland of Lights at Heckscher Park with a grand opening celebration on Thursday, December 13 at 5pm.

“As President of the Huntington Cultural Affairs Institute it warms my heart to carry this year’s Winter Wonderland theme of holiday festivities into December with our first holiday light display inside Heckscher Park, where residents and visitors can visit and take in the beauty of our crown jewel of Town parks, enjoy a special holiday light display throughout the month of December and join in the celebration with holiday music performances on December 13th,” said Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci.

“This First Annual Winter Wonderland is something I am very happy to be part of, it brings the Town of Huntington together to celebrate the holidays and to beautiful Heckscher Park all lit up where residents can visit throughout the season,” said Councilman Ed Smyth, who serves as Vice President of the Huntington Cultural Affairs Institute Board.

The lights will be installed by the end of the first week of December. The celebration on December 13 will include a visit with Santa, live performances by the John W. Engeman Theater and the Stimson Middle School Showstoppers, hot cocoa and food trucks.

The Huntington Cultural Affairs Institute has provided $20,000 in funding for the holiday light display throughout Heckscher Park, appropriating the funds at their October 10 meeting.
