19 Waterfront Festival Highlights Event-Packed Week
Boating
safety at the start of the boating season is the theme of the seventh annual
Safe Boating Week May 18-24, jointly sponsored by the Town of Huntington and
the Greater Huntington Council of Yacht and Boating Clubs.
The Safe
Boating Week Waterfront Festival takes place Sunday, May 19, from 10:00 AM
through 5:00 PM at Mill Dam Park in Halesite. Dealers and vendors selling boat
supplies, nautical décor, crafts, and more will keep it nautical, but there’ll
be food, music, and fun for all. Go by boat to the festival — Mill Dam Park is
across the street from the Huntington Town Marina. Transient moorings and docks
are available at Willis Marina and West Shore Marina.
Huntington
Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci said, “The Town of Huntington is committed to
promoting boating safety I encourage all of our residents to take advantage of
the many learning opportunities offered throughout Safe Boating Week, which
will provide useful throughout the boating season.”
Huntington’s
Safe Boating Week includes a free eight-hour New York State Boating Safety
course, courtesy vessel safety inspections by the Coast Guard Auxiliary and
Power Squadron, as well as courses, lectures and seminars on a range of topics.
