3/9/2020 - [VIDEO] Lupinacci Urges Huntington Residents to Use Online Services, Avoid Coronavirus Risk, with Update from Northwell Health Eastern Region Spokesperson

Huntington – Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci was joined by Dr. Michael B. Grosso, Huntington Hospital Medical Director and Northwell Health Eastern region spokesperson, for an update on measures being taken in the Town of Huntington to prevent the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) on Monday, March 9 at the Town of Huntington Senior Center, Adult Day Care.

Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci stated: “While 80% of those infected with Coronavirus are reported to ‘spontaneously recover’ without any medical intervention, those who are elderly and in high risk groups are more susceptible and may need more supportive care if infected, which means we all must take precautions, especially since virus spread may occur when no symptoms are present. The Town of Huntington is taking extra care to ensure risks are reduced at our facilities, such as at Town Hall, at the Flanagan Center, where our Adult Day Care, Senior Center and Youth Bureau programs are based, and our fleet of HART buses and other facilities.”

Lupinacci provided an update on preventive measures being taken at Town of Huntington facilities to prevent the possible exposure and spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), reminding residents they can access many Town services online at HuntingtonNY.gov, by phone (631) 351-3000 and by email, and urged those who are sick or at-risk to stay home and watch Tuesday’s Town Board meeting live online or on the Town’s government access TV channels Optimum 18 and FIOS 38. Those who do not attend in person may participate in public hearings by emailing the Town Clerk with comments to be put on the record and distributed to the Town Board, or sending comments via postal mail.

Michael Grosso, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Huntington Hospital stated: “Northwell Health has extensive experience and deep expertise in managing infectious diseases challenges, including SARS, MERS, H1N1 influenza and others. Huntington Hospital’s clinical staff and leadership continue to work closely with their colleagues across Northwell to ensure that we are ready to manage novel Coronavirus cases while continuing to provide the range and depth of high quality healthcare services that our community needs and relies on.”
