Huntington – Town of Huntington Maritime facilities will remain closed past the originally scheduled April 1 seasonal opening date; the March 31 Town Board meeting will go on as scheduled at 2:00 PM, accessible as usual online and on TV with all public hearings postponed; the Dix Hills Golf Course will close again on March 31; the April 1 Planning Board meeting and all public hearings will be postponed; the April 2 Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) meeting and all public hearings will be postponed.
MARITIME SERVICES
Due to directives from Suffolk County mandating the closure of recreational maritime facilities and the subsequent and planned closures of privately-operated marinas, the Department of Maritime Services is delaying the opening of Town Maritime facilities due to the presence and usage of high-touch surfaces and close proximity to other patrons required at these facilities.
All Town Maritime facilities are closed to recreational use until further notice.
The Department of Maritime Services, in consultation with advice given by Suffolk County, health officials and other municipalities, will delay the opening of Mill Dam Marina, located on Mill Dam Road, Huntington; Halesite Marina, located on New York Avenue, Halesite; and the Gold Star Battalion Beach Boat Launch Service, located on West Shore Road, Huntington, past the originally scheduled April 1 seasonal opening date and until further notice.
The Harbormaster’s Office is closed to the public until further notice; staff is working remotely, in the field, and on patrol. Please email harbormaster@huntingtonny.gov with any inquiries.
TOWN BOARD MEETING
The Tuesday, March 31 Town Board meeting at 2:00 PM will be held remotely; meeting audio will be live-streamed online at HuntingtonNY.gov/meetings and on government access TV channels Optimum 18 and FIOS 38; meeting video will not be available live. The meeting agenda is available online; all public hearings listed on the agenda will be rescheduled by the Town Board during the meeting for the May 20, 2020 at 7:00 PM meeting.
OTHER CLOSURES/CANCELLATIONS
- Due to staffing issues and low demand from golfers, Dix Hills Golf Course, located at 575 Vanderbilt Parkway, Dix Hills, will be closed again starting March 31 and until further notice. Crab Meadow Golf Course remains open.
- The April 1 Planning Board meeting and all scheduled public hearings will be postponed until further notice.
- The April 2 Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) meeting and all scheduled public hearings will be postponed until further notice.
