The Northport Golf Course at the VA Gets Paved Parking Lot With Help From Councilman Eugene Cook

Huntington, Long Island – Today Wednesday June 27, 2012, the parking lot for the Golf Course at the Northport Veteran’s Hospital is being paved after more than five years of requests by Mario Buonpane and members of the golf committee to various organizations and community members.

On June 4, 2012 Mario met with Councilman Eugene Cook at the Golf Course to request any assistance in getting the gravel parking lot paved. There were concerns that a Vet or community member may get injured on the gravel lot if they were to fall. Mario explained that they have been trying to get assistance to raise the monies to pave the lot and wanted to know if Councilman Cook could be of any help.

Councilman Cook was quick to review the parking lot and reach out to several Long Island small business owners who stepped up to make this happen. With much thanks to Posillico Inc. who donated the asphalt, Lindley Bros Asphalt Paving Inc. who donated the labor and equipment for the paving and M G M Sealcoating Inc. who donated the labor, equipment and materials to stripe the parking lot. Now the Veteran’s and the community have a parking lot that matches a beautiful golf course.

Mario Buopane stated, “When I first met with Gene I had brown hair it seems like an eternity from when we first discussed the need to pave this lot, a whole three and a half weeks now that I have white hair our lot will be paved, stated with tongue - in - cheek.”

Councilman Cook stated, “This would not have been possible, if our local small business owner’s didn’t open their hearts to our Veterans Community. Today proves that if we all work together and communicate we can accomplish what may seem like the impossible. I am grateful for the generosity of Posillico Inc., Lindley Bros Asphalt Paving Inc. and M G M Sealcoating for their assistance. This never would have gotten accomplished without their assistance. Today, I recognize two groups of heroes, our Veterans who stand up for our Freedom and the companies who allowed us to show them how we appreciate them.”
