East Northport – Supervisor Chad A.
Lupinacci and Councilwoman Joan Cergol joined Reverend Joseph Garofalo and
Island Christian Church, along with New York State Assemblymen Andrew Raia and
Michael Fitzpatrick, for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the church's renovated
sanctuary on Sunday, January 13.
“It is an honor to be invited to
participate in this joyous event at Island Christian Church,” said Supervisor
Chad A. Lupinacci. “Thank you to Pastor Joe, I wish you and your congregation
the best in this new state-of-the-art sanctuary, which I understand was quite
the achievement, constructed debt-free from donations from your faithful
congregation!”
“Congratulations to Island Christian
Church on the dedication of their newly-renovated state-of-the art sanctuary,”
said Councilwoman Joan Cergol. “It was inspiring and exciting to participate in
the inaugural service in the new sanctuary. Best wishes to the members of
Island Christian Church who raised the funds for the beautiful
renovation. May they enjoy many happy years there.”
After four-plus months of
construction and over one year of planning and fundraising, Sunday services
were held on December 23, 2018 in Island Christian Church's renovated
sanctuary. Called RENEW 2018, the project entailed new staging and lighting,
wall covering, carpeting, and HVAC. New audio, visual and lighting equipment
was also installed. All the funds needed for the renovation were generously
provided for by the church's congregation, so there is no debt.
