3/7/2019 - Huntington Selects Crab Meadow Golf Course Restaurant Vendor, Funds Road, Infrastructure Improvements

At its March 5 meeting, the Huntington Town Board selected S&J Food Services to run the concessions at Crab Meadow Golf Course, funded critical road and infrastructure improvements, and scheduled public hearings for the April 16 meeting.

 

The Town Board enacted the granting of a license agreement to operate and manage the banquet room and snack bar at Crab Meadow Golf Course in the Town of Huntington with S&J Food Services Inc.; the Town will receive $280,000 in revenue over the initial three year term, the highest offer proposed to the Town during the RFP process.

 

“During the RFP process, S&J Food Services proposed the best financial offer to the Town and exhibited the most knowledge and enthusiasm for investment in the facilities,” said Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci. “The restaurant at Crab Meadow Golf Course has been closed since November 8 and this timely approval will ensure they are up and running for the start of our busy golf season.”

 

The Town also authorized $5,250,000 in infrastructure improvements:

 

  • $4,750,000 in road and traffic safety rehabilitation measures for 2019, including road repaving ($3,100,000); drainage improvements ($1,000,000); sidewalks and pedestrian ramps ($300,000); pavement markings ($150,000); traffic signal and traffic calming improvements ($200,000).
  • $500,000 in roof repairs for the Flanagan Center, which houses the Town’s Senior Center, Adult Day Care and Youth Bureau Divisions.

 

In other action, the Town Board:

 

  • Accepted a donation from BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir of a tree and plaque at Sweet Hollow Park to recognize the organization’s special partnership with the Town at a ceremony to be held in June of 2019.
  • Reappointed Jennifer Casey, Elissa Kyle and Robert S. Kissam as members of the Historic Preservation Commission for terms to expire March 12, 2022.
  • Approved a measure allowing the Department of Planning and Environment to apply to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Trees for Tribs Program for 25 native shrubs/trees to plant  at Geisslers Beach in the spring of 2019 to improve riparian buffers and reduce erosion, protect water quality and improve wildlife habitat.
  • Scheduled public hearings for the Tuesday, April 16, 2019 Town Board meeting at 2:00 PM:

Ø  (RESCHEDULED FROM FEBRUARY 13) To consider the increase and improvement of facilities of the South Huntington Water District, in the Town of Huntington, in the County of Suffolk, New York, pursuant to Section 202-b of the Town Law, consisting of wellhead treatment improvements at Well No. 10.

Ø  (RESCHEDULED FROM FEBRUARY 13) To consider the increase and improvement of facilities of the Greenlawn Water District, in the Town of Huntington, in the County of Suffolk, New York, pursuant to Section 202-b of the Town Law, consisting of wellhead treatment improvements at Well No. 12.

Ø  To consider amending the Code of the Town of Huntington, Chapter 74 (Affordable Housing); to allow for up to five additional certificates of occupancy for market value units for good cause shown, per the recommendation of the Director of the Huntington Community Development Agency, in an effort to avoid delay in CO issuance when unforeseen circumstances arise during construction projects.

Ø  To consider awarding an agreement to Great Events Solutions Inc. DBA Hoop Dreams to provide and run an outdoor summer youth basketball league.

Ø  To consider amending the Uniform Traffic Code of the Town of Huntington, Chapter 3, Article II, §3-3, Schedule J. Re: Centershore Road  - Centerport  - Parking Restrictions; to consider No Stopping restrictions along the east side of Centershore Road adjacent to Mill Pond in Centerport from 65 feet north of Westfield Drive to 205 feet west of Mill Dam Road (removing the No Parking restrictions from 205 feet west of Mill Dam Road west for 100 feet).

Ø  To consider amending the Uniform Traffic Code of the Town of Huntington, Chapter 3, Article II, §3-3, Schedule J. Re: Newark Street – East Northport –Parking Restrictions; adding No Stopping restrictions on Newark Street, from 50 feet north of Shelby Road to Cedar Road and from 210 feet north of Shelby Road to 50 feet north of Shelby Road, from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

Ø  To consider amending the Code of the Town of Huntington, Chapter 159 (Recreational Facilities) and The Uniform Traffic Code of the Town of Huntington, Chapter TC3 (Parking Regulations); clarifying the Town's law concerning the enforcement of beach parking tickets and recodifying this law in the Traffic Code.
