12/3/2019 - [VIDEO] Lupinacci, Marine Corps Reserve Launch Town of Huntington Toys for Tots Campaign

Huntington – Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci, Councilman Eugene Cook, Councilman Ed Smyth and Receiver of Taxes Jillian Guthman were joined by Major Chuck Kilbride, U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) (Retired), GySgt. John C. Sardine, USMC, Dr. Bobby Kalotee, Co-Chair, Long Island Toy for Tots Committee, and Robert Capodonna, Suffolk County Police Benevolent Association, to announce a Toys for Tots Campaign in the Town of Huntington on Tuesday, December 3 at Huntington Town Hall.

“Today is “Giving Tuesday” and we are here with the Marine Corps Reserve to announce our joint Toys for Tots initiative in the Town of Huntington and we are asking for your support,” said Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci. “The gift of a shiny new toy can show underprivileged children that someone cares, they haven’t been forgotten, and that Christmas hasn't passed him or her by. Thank you to Major Chuck Kilbride and the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Committee for all you do on behalf of the less fortunate children in our communities during the holiday season.”

“I am proud to be able to stand here with the United States Marine Corps Reserve today, as they are not only heroes for serving our great nation, but for serving the children in our community. I am thankful to know that their efforts will ensure that no parent goes through this holiday season not being able to watch their child open a holiday gift. As there is no greater joy as seeing your child happy,” stated Councilman Eugene Cook.

“For 244 years, the United States Marines have been spreading joy and happiness everywhere they go. The Toys for Tots is another example of goodwill by the Marines,” said Councilman Ed Smyth.

“A wonderful opportunity to enjoy the joy of the season while helping a child!” said Receiver of Taxes Jillian Guthman. “The strength of a community is measured by the manor by which it supports its children. Huntington truly is a wonderful community!”

New, unwrapped toys may be dropped off in Toys for Tots donation boxes at the following Town facilities now through Friday, December 20:

  • Huntington Town Hall, 100 Main Street, Huntington
  • Dix Hills Ice Rink, 575 Vanderbilt Parkway, Dix Hills
  • Town Senior Center, 423 Park Avenue, Huntington

Donations can also be made at ToysForTots.org. Those wishing to volunteer or to host Toys for Tots donation boxes may contact Major Chuck Kilbride at (516) 902-0934.

Since 1947, the Marine Corps Reserve has been making Christmas wishes come true for needy children with their Toys for Tots campaign. Toys for Tots on Long Island makes a difference in the lives of less fortunate children in our communities. The Town of Huntington is partnering again this year with the Marine Corps Reserve hosting Toys for Tots donation boxes at Town Hall and other Town facilities.
