4/8/2020 - Town Coronavirus Response Robocall with 800 Numbers for Domestic Violence and Mental Health Resources

This is Supervisor Chad Lupinacci with an important update on the Town’s coronavirus response after a brief prevention message and 800 numbers for mental health and domestic violence resources:

Please stay at home, stop the spread, and save lives.

Quédate en casa, detén la propagación del virus y salva vidas.

  • If you are in a dangerous domestic situation, New York State will help you find a safe shelter. Call 1-800-942-6906. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

  • If you are struggling with tough thoughts, don't hesitate to call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK, that's 1-800-273-8255. Crisis counselors will answer 24/7/365.

  • A mental health hotline is also available to New Yorkers who need it. For free emotional support, consultation and referral to a provider, call 1-844-863-9314.

Try to avoid grocery shopping if it is not absolutely necessary over the next 10-15 days and wear a mask or other face covering if you must leave the house, as this is the expected peak infection time frame.

Please, drive safely to protect those who are out walking, jogging, and bicycle riding.

We have opened dedicated shellfishing ramps at Cold Spring Harbor/Billy Joel Park and Mill Dam. 2019 shellfishing permits are valid until Town Hall reopens and is able to process 2020 permits. Hobart Beach and other ramps are closed.

Registration for Project PLAY/St. John's Camp may now be done by mail. Go to HuntingtonNY.gov and click on the Project PLAY/St. John's Camp button to download an application and instructions.

Governor Cuomo announced that New York State is increasing the maximum fine for violations of the State's social distancing protocol to $1,000 to help address the lack of adherence to social distancing protocols. The Town’s Department of Public Safety will be patrolling Town parks, enforcing the Governor's order and may write summonses for violations and fines of up $1,000.

You may still visit Town parks if you practice social distancing, though all athletic fields, courts, playgrounds and skate parks are closed. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in keeping our community safe.
