The Town of Huntington would like to advise residents that the local water districts (Suffolk County Water Authority, Greenlawn Water District, South Huntington Water District, Dix Hills Water District) have imposed mandatory irrigation restrictions to combat an ongoing water shortage. The restrictions follow an odd/even schedule: houses with odd-numbered street addresses may irrigate on odd-numbered days only, and houses with even-numbered street addresses may irrigate on even-numbered days only.
Residents are urged to refrain from using their irrigation systems between the hours of 12:00am and 8:00am. If everyone helps to conserve a small amount of water, water districts townwide will be able to supply a safe and reliable source of water for emergencies and regular water usage.
