7/29/2026 - Advisory Against Bathing at Town Beaches
Please be advised that due to heavy rainfall, the Suffolk County Department of Health Services has issued an advisory against bathing at 64 beaches throughout the county.
This advisory is based on the potential of high levels of bacteria exceeding New York State standards due to heavy rainfall. The beaches covered by the advisory are in areas that are heavily influenced by stormwater runoff from the surrounding watersheds or adjacent tributaries.
Health officials recommend that bathing and other water contact be suspended in affected areas until the waters have been flushed by two successive tidal cycles—at least a 24-hour period—after the rain has ended. The advisory will lift tomorrow, Thursday, July 30 at 9:00am.
Within the Town of Huntington, the following beaches are affected: Asharoken Beach, Centerport Beach, Crab Meadow Beach, Crescent Beach, Fleets Cove Beach, Gold Star Battalion Beach, Hobart Beach, and West Neck Beach.
Please refer to the Suffolk County Department of Health for additional information.
