 Suydam Homestead
1 Fort Salonga Road, Centerport, NY

The Greenlawn-Centerport Historical Association (GCHA) was established in 1973 to research, collect, record and preserve the history of Greenlawn and Centerport, New York, two separate communities with a long history of interconnectedness, which today are formally bound together by the Harborfields Central School District.

Operating from its headquarters in the Harborfields Public Library, which houses the Association’s Russell B. Brush Research Center, GCHA maintains and interprets two historic properties:  the circa 1730 Suydam Homestead in Centerport and the circa 1750 John Gardiner Farm in Greenlawn.  Workshops, guest speakers, demonstrations, special events, and educational programs for school and community groups are presented throughout the year to connect residents with the past that shaped their community.
