Inspired by the success of Huntington’s 250th anniversary celebration in 1903 at which President Theodore Roosevelt was the featured speaker, residents of the Town founded the Huntington Historical Society. Since then, the Society has spent more than a century protecting and interpreting the history of our town.

The Huntington Historical Society maintains five National Register historic buildings, four of which are open to the public. The Dr. Daniel Kissam and David Conklin Houses operate as house museums, the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Building provides a unique gallery space, the Trade School serves as the Society headquarters and is the home to the Research Center, Archives Collection, and Genealogy Library.

The Society also shares the Town’s history through exhibitions, educational festivals, school programs, summer camp program, and calendar of public programs.
