ATTENTION SENIOR LOW AND DISABILITY LOW RENEWAL APPLICANTS – GREAT NEWS!
We are pleased to announce that renewal applicants will AUTOMATICALLY renew at same percentage of exemption as last year so NO RENEWAL APPLICATION IS REQUIRED THIS YEAR! (Pursuant to NY State Law and Town Board Resolution)
REMINDER-you are still under an obligation to advise the Assessor’s Office if qualifications change due to someone death, ownership change, primary residence change.
The primary mission of the Assessor’s Office is to value all real property within the Town in a fair and equitable manner and maintain accurate and timely Town Assessment Rolls. When the Roll is finalized each year becomes the tax base upon which the annual Town Tax Warrant is assessed. Huntington’s Tax Warrant is more than $900 million.
The property taxes collected fund municipal government, including the Town, Suffolk County, and Huntington’s school districts, library districts and special districts (fire, water, ambulance, sewer, refuse, lighting, and business improvement districts). An accurate assessment roll is vital to the delivery public services and maintaining the fiscal strength of local government.
