Finished basement (existing condition)
A Certificate of Occupancy is required for an existing finished basement.
Applications for Permits must be submitted on the Town’s application portal:

Filing Instructions
The following items must be submitted to file for a building permit to legalize a basement converted to living space:
- Property Owner Affidavit, filled out in its entirety, must be signed by the property owner and notarized.
- Recent complete surveys by a licensed land surveyor, showing the entire property and all existing buildings and structures.
- As-built Plans must be drawn by a design professional/draftsperson, architect, or engineer to scale and include: ceiling height, window & door locations and dimensions, stairwells/egress with all rooms labeled. If the basement includes bedroom/s, floor plans for all levels of the dwelling are required.
- Photos of current conditions (interior) and structure (exterior).
