Deck Permit

A Building Permit is required for an attached or detached deck more than 8 inches (8”) in height. The height of the deck shall be measured from the grade.

Filing Instructions

The following items must be submitted to file for a deck building permit:

1. Property Owner Affidavit, filled out in its entirety, must be signed by the property owner and notarized.
2. Recent complete surveys by a licensed land surveyor, showing the entire property and all existing buildings and structures.
3. Plot Plan indicating scope of work.
4. Construction Drawings
5. Certificate of Worker’s Compensation (use form C-105.2 or U-26.3 as applicable)
6. Copy of Suffolk County Home Improvement License Photo ID card (front and back)
7. Photos of current conditions (interior) and structure (exterior)
