Receiver of Taxes Jillian Guthman

Jillian Guthman, Esq., is the elected Receiver of Taxes for the Town of Huntington, a position she has held since 2018. A lifelong Huntington resident and seasoned public servant, she brings 30 years of legal, governmental, administrative, and community service experience to her work on behalf of Huntington’s residents and property owners.

As Receiver of Taxes, Jillian oversees the administration and collection of property taxes for the Town of Huntington and numerous taxing jurisdictions reflected on Huntington’s tax bills. Her office is responsible for issuing tax bills, collecting and accounting for tax payments, and maintaining tax records and more for the 72,500 plus parcels in Huntington.

Before becoming Receiver of Taxes, Jillian served for 10 years as Director of the Town’s Human Services Department, where she provided executive oversight of programs serving seniors, veterans, persons with disabilities, women and minority communities. She also served concurrently as the Town’s Equal Employment Opportunity Officer, presiding over employment-related hearings and helping ensure compliance with workplace laws and policies.

Jillian’s extensive legal career includes service as a Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney, Attorney for the Village of Hempstead and employment with the New York City Corporation Counsel’s Office. She joined the Huntington Town Attorney’s Office as an Assistant Town Attorney and advanced to Deputy Town Attorney, gaining broad experience in municipal law and the operation of local government.

A lifelong Huntington resident, Jillian graduated from Huntington High School before earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from St. John’s University and her law degree from Touro College’s Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center. She has been admitted to practice law in New York for 30 years.

Throughout her career, Jillian has combined legal expertise, management experience, and a commitment to public service. She is dedicated to ensuring that the Office of the Receiver of Taxes operates with professionalism, accountability, accessibility, and a high level of service to the residents and property owners of the Town of Huntington.
