Huntington Sewer District
The District has more than 35 miles of sewers ranging from 8 to 30-inches in diameter, more than 4-1/2 miles of force main, and more than 830 manholes. Sewage flows to the plant primarily without the means of any pumping stations. The East Fifth Street pump station conveys wastewater from Huntington Farms, the Carillon Nursing Home and Avalon Huntington Station/Country Pointe Huntington. A pump station at the treatment plant serves the Halesite area to the north along New York Avenue up to Youngs Hill Road. Treated wastewater is discharged through a submerged outfall pipe located in Huntington Harbor off Halesite Marina.
District personnel also operate and maintain the Centerport Sewer District (CSD). There are two (2) pump stations in the CSD. Wastewater from the CSD is pumped to the Village of Northport sewage collection system for subsequent treatment. The contract between the Town and the Village provides for a flow of up to 56,000 gallons per day.
